The Baldrige Award is given by the President of the United States to businesses — manufacturing and service, small and large — and to education and healthcare organizations that apply and are judged to be outstanding in seven areas: leadership; strategic planning; customer and market focus; measurement, analysis, and knowledge management; human resource focus; process management; and results.

Paperless
We created our own ERP called Augurware. Our new ERP enabled us to become paperless; probably one of the few organizations in our industry. Being paperless has eliminated all our paper tickets which equaled to about 60,000 pieces of paper per year. We have also minimized our office supply bill by 60%. Our employees have quick access to any customer requirements at any computer or tablet anywhere in our new, state of the art facility.

Rejuvenate & Reclaim
At our new facility we built a second building 150 ft from our main manufacturing area to house and store all our solvents and acids for safety measures and environmental concern. Chemicals are automatically pumped to and from each facility as needed through over 4,000 feet of process plumbing in environmental contained trenches. By establishing this state-of-the-art contained piping system that rejuvenates our spent etching acid, we’ve reduced the need to purchase new acid by 75% while also reclaiming solvents.

iScrubber™
By introducing the iSCRUBBER to our nameplate etching process, we’re able to reclaim old solvents and cycle them back through the machine for reuse. This machine has an ROI of just two years and has eliminated use of soiled rags, the need for PPE, and VOC’s. Labor has been reduced 35% and solvent use has been reduced by 95%.

Water
When making an etched nameplate, you have to use a lot of water to move all that acid away from the metal. So, we wanted to create a way to reduce our usage. In addition to all the acid we pump out of the etching machine and into the chemical building, we do the exact same thing with our water. Our focus on recycling water has reduced water usage by 90%.
